Why does inclusivity matter to you personally at work?
Inclusivity in the workplace creates both a happy and high-performing environment for reasons well evidenced (and probably more eloquently articulated) elsewhere. For me, inclusivity is essential for improving the diversity of those around me and ensuring all people are supported equally and effectively. I know I personally benefit from diverse minds in order to challenge my perspectives, enhance team problem-solving, and increase my exposure to different ways of thinking. Similarly, I bring unique experiences and ideas to Fairgrove myself that I feel are valuable and valued.
How does Fairgrove foster a supportive culture day-to-day?
Fairgrove’s culture is difficult to decode. It’s by far the most supportive and authentic environment I’ve worked in which is a testament to the nature of our people and the processes we have built. There are so many initiatives and practices that provide support, formally and informally, from onboarding training and on-project feedback to assigned mentors and team building events. Day-to-day there is a really open and collaborative feel to the office, and a culture of continuous feedback to enhance individual performance as well as to evolve the firm.
Can you share some insight on Fairgrove’s Women at Fairgrove initiative?
Women at Fairgrove (WaF) is an affinity group for our female employees that exists to support gender equity, which I am proud to lead. We organise events to attract and retain top female talent, such as our WaF Insight Day and quarterly lunches, where we discuss experiences, share knowledge and brainstorm ideas so that we are constantly developing. We also have a Teams channel (currently named ‘SheDD & StrateShe Consultants’ – I’ll take the credit/blame for that!) where we have more regular chats and share resources. All members of the firm are engaged and invested in WaF, and we discuss updates at our monthly company-wide meeting.
What initiatives or practices are in the Fairgrove pipeline?
WaF is going international! We are excited to be collaborating with our female Consulting For Capital colleagues in Paris and Munich to create a pan-European Women’s Network as part of Fairgrove’s strategic alliance with CMI and CODEX. More broadly, we are also formalising a DE&I strategy with a dedicated taskforce to support applicants and employees, and enhancing several ‘behind-the-scenes’ areas of the business as we strive to become a B-Corp certified organisation.
